Edris J. Curry's Obituary
Mrs. Edris Curry went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 at her home in Lakeland, Florida. Edris was born in New Orleans LA on September 30, 1938. She was raised in Macon GA. where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Dave Curry in 1958. Edris attended Wesleyan College in Macon where she excelled in a variety of sports, as well as becoming a fledgling artist.
After moving their family to Lakeland in 1969 Dave and Edris became actively involved in a number of local charitable endeavors but the organization dearest to her heart was Compassion House, a food and clothing ministry through Lakes Church. Edris was Executive Director of Compassion House for more than 20 years and has helped change the lives of countless individuals in the Lakeland area.
Edris was preceded in death by her husband Dave (2020): parents, Woody and Olive Jones;: brothers, Woody Jones, Jr. and Lonnie Jones. She is survived by her sons David “Rooster” (Susan) Curry and Danny (Alex) Curry; beloved grandchildren Jessica (Bevan) Adams, Amanda (Nick) Folkes, Fisher Curry and Cooper Curry; as well as the lights of her life, great grandchildren Charlotte and Henry Adams. Flower arrangements or contributions to One More Child are welcomed.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 7, 2024, 10:00 am at Lakes Church, 1010 E. Memorial Blvd. Lakeland, FL. A reception with friends and family will follow the funeral service at church. Interment will be at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. immediately following the reception. Edris had a passion for bright colors and floral patterns. We encourage attendees to dress this way, if desired.
