Douglass Kellogg Harwell Jr.'s Obituary
Douglass K. Harwell, Jr. (Doug) was born in Orlando, FL on August 22, 1940. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1959. Following graduation from LHS, he attended Florida State University, where he was active in the Theta Chi Fraternity and the ROTC. He also performed on the trapeze in the circus at FSU. Doug graduated from FSU in 1963. He served in the US Army and was deployed to Korea. He became an Airborne Ranger while in the Reserves and left the service as a 1st Lieutenant. Doug married Sandra Haake in 1967 and they enjoyed 54 years together. Doug was a realtor in Lakeland and served on the Board of Realtors. He was active in Kiwanis and his church. He was also very active in the community and coached many little league baseball teams. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; three children, Shari Harwell Richard (David Richard), Douglass Harwell, III (Teresa Harwell) , Russell Harwell (Cara Harwell), and six beautiful grandchildren Sarah Richard, Emily Richard Dyel (Chris Dyel), Kaitlyn Harwell, Kimberly Harwell, Lily Harwell, and Liam Harwell.
