Ms. Dortha K. Holm, age 84, died April 9, 2014, of heart failure. Ms. Holm was born Dortha K. May, also known to many friends as Dottie, in Dunlap, Tennessee on May 29th, 1929. She was the second born of nine children to her parents of Ernest May and Beatrice Barker May. Dortha K. had four brothers, Reverend Jack May, deceased, Howard May, deceased, Joe May and Erin May, both reside in Dunlap. She had four sisters, Betty Joyce Wright and Ethel Lee, both deceased, Inez Merriman of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Ann Cartwright and Catherine Billingsley, both of Dunlap. Dortha K. was the mother to eight children: Jerry Cunningham of Garner, NC, Gloria Cunningham Welch of Dunlap, Ronny Gadd and Roger Gadd, both deceased, Sharon K. McGlothen of Lakeland, FL, Rickey Joe McGlothen of Lakeland FL, Jim Ray McGlothen of Pacific Grove, CA, and Debra Sue McGlothen of Lakeland FL. Dortha K was born and lived her adolescent years in Dunlap and attended Sequatchie County High School. After high school came marriage and she lived in Chattanooga TN, New Jersey, South Carolina, and in Lakeland, Florida, in 1963. Dortha K. enjoyed her grand and great-grand children numbering over & beyond 110. She never met a stranger she wouldn't talk to or acquaint herself with. She had many friends who loved her. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening & working outside in general. She also just liked sitting in her rocker in the corner of the living room and watching TV or reading the newspaper or her Bible or any magazine she could get her hands on. She was a hard worker and was a good Samaritan to all. Family was extremely important to her and she loved all of them until the day she passed to join our Lord and our Father in Heaven.
A Memorial service will conducted Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. at Victory Church, Light of Lights Chapel.
