Dorothy Eleanor Flood, 86
LAKELAND -Dorothy Eleanor Flood was born August 22, 1929 in Hartford, Connecticut and spent most of her life in the Greater New Haven area of Connecticut. She was born to eternal life on August 29, 2015.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Vincent Raymond Flood and Victoria (Karcauskas) Flood. She is survived by her sister Lauretta Flood Newman and her brother-in law Bernard W. Newman, M/SGT . Retired, U.S. Army. Also surviving her are beloved cousins and the many life-long friends she made throughout her life, especially those associated with her 40 plus year career at Anthem Blue Cross in Connecticut. She attended Truman Street School and graduated from Commercial High School, in New Haven.
Dorothy drew people to her because of her quick wit, her zest for life, and the love and concern she showed those in need of encouragement when life was difficult.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church , 820 Marcum Rd., Lakeland, Florida on Thursday, September 3rd at 11:30 a.m.
There will be no prior viewing or visitation. Interment will take place in the Flood family plot in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven Connecticut at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School, Marcum Road, Lakeland Florida 33809.
The family would like to thank Dorothy’s caregivers at Carpenters Manor, and those from Good Shepherd Hospice , also Saint Anthony Catholic Church Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick, and all who visited her during her last illness. Your prayers, caring, compassion and concern will never be forgotten.
