LAKELAND-Mrs. Dorothy V. Castles went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy was a great example of a virtuous woman (Proverbs 32:10).
Mrs. Castles was born March 19, 1926 in Lakeland, Florida to the late Titus and Cora (Hicks) Smith.
Dorothy loved her family, fishing, cooking her Butternut cake and traveling to the mountains in the fall. She was a longtime active member of Bethel Baptist Church. She served as financial secretary and was a Sunday School Teacher at the church. Mrs. Castles was voted Prom Queen of her 1943 Kathleen High School senior class.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Roy and Ralph Smith; 2 sisters, Betty Jo Morris and Christine Morrison.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, C.B. Castles; sons, Wayne Castles (Patsy), Steve Castles (Mary), Mark Castles (Donna); grandchildren, Katie, Adam and Anna; sister, Carolyn McClelland (David).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church building fund.
A visitation will be tomorrow (Monday) from 10-11 AM at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home (3350 Mall Hill Drive). Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Wayne Roberts officiating.
