Lakeland – “Dorie” H. Casad, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 21, 2015. She was born 2/12/31 to Laura (Cooper) and Lester Nelson in Albany, IL and moved to Lakeland in 1987 from Clinton, Iowa. Doretta was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lakeland. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards on Sunday’s with her daughter, going out to eat with her family and just spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) Bland of Lakeland; son, Gary Irion of Cameron, MO; brother, William (Mary) Nelson; sisters, Mardell George, JoAnn (LeRoy) Handel, Carole Smith; grandchildren, Jeffrey Shambaugh, Joshua (Liz) Shambaugh, Alissa (Chad) Leftin, Christi Irion, Lauren Irion; great grandchildren, Paige, Shea, Olive, Greyson, and Asher; step children, Janice Hicks, Susan (Bob) Baker, Jim (Bonnie) Barley, Charles (Linda) Casad, Richard (Marcia) Casad. Doretta was preceded in death by her second husband, Charles Casad; sister, Belva Rogers; grandson, Brian Irion; daughter, Debbie; and her husband, Ronald W. Barley whom she married on May 27, 2000 then preceded her on Aug. 18, 2015.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, 10 – 11am at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. Funeral services to begin at 11:00am. A private interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Arrangements by Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens.
