Donald Lee Majors' Obituary
Donald Lee Majors, 89, of Lakeland, FL, born April 8, 1935, passed away on June 6, 2024.
Donald was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his spouse Glenda Majors, sons David Majors (Jani) and Craig Majors (Kim), daughter Shelia Linville, and grandchildren Steven Taylor, Michael Bennett, Christopher Bennett, Danny Linville II, and David Linville. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Melvin Majors and Eva Rosetta Stein, wife Lucy Henschen, and daughter Lisa Taylor.
Donald had a distinguished career that started at Meissner in Mt. Carmel, IL. He then worked as a fireman on NYC Railroad when diesels replaced steam engines, before moving on to work as a Draftsman at various companies in Indianapolis, IN. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Richardson, Alaska, and was honorably discharged on 03/31/1964. Following his military service, he worked at the Alaskan Highway Dept. helping design bridges after the Alaskan earthquake and was present for Alaska’s induction as the 49th state. He then returned to Indianapolis, IN, where he retired as a Drafting Supervisor after 37 years at Peerless Pump.
In his free time, Donald enjoyed big game hunting in Alaska, attending country music concerts, collecting photos and autographs from his favorite stars, and exploring different restaurants to indulge in various cuisines.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10am at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel, in Lakeland, FL, with visitation on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 6-8pm.
