Donald "Fred" Johnson's Obituary
Donald “Fred” Johnson was called to heaven February 11, 2023, at the age of 81 peacefully in his home in Lakeland, FL.
Fred was born March 7, 1941 to parents Jake and Margret(Hobkirk) Johnson in Plant City, Florida, where he was raised. At a young age, he inherited his love for trucking from his grandfather, and started a career as an over the road driver that led him to travel all over the country. He later became a broker and businessman, owning his own trucks, before retirement.
During his years of traveling, he met his soulmate, caretaker, and wife of 30 years, Connie. After living in Wyoming and Ohio, they settled in their home of 24 years in Lakeland, FL.
Fred was a great storyteller and always reminisced over the good times. He truly never met a stranger and gathered many of friends over the years. He enjoyed time at the lake camping, fishing with his family, and good old country music. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and his animals.
Fred leaves behind his wife Connie Johnson; brother Harold Johnson; children Kathy Knight (John), Donna Johnson, and Jonathan Erickson (Jennifer); 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Jake and Margret(Hobkirk) Johnson, and son Tony Johnson.
He will be missed by many.
