Dan was such a special man. He was a wonderful friend to my husband and he always made me laugh when we were together. Mark and I always enjoyed special times with Dan and Wanda in the mountains and with the entire Thielen family at Christmas time with them and Beth Ann, and Ben. Our daughters were always entertained by Dan's wit and moved by his kind and gentle spirit. He will be truly missed by the Thielen Family.
My relationship w/Dan spanded over 5 decades. In a liarer's poker game in which Danny was totally unsuccessfully, my son, Scott saw Danny as not so very tuff. From that point on, the first start of "too tuff Baldry' emanated. Over 40 years, the nickname stuck. In 1971, our relationship in golf became special from a tournament in May, in Lakeland. It was special because of Dan/Bill/beer/golf & a traditional finish on Sunday of steak & greek salad @ Danny & Wanda's home. This lasted over 3 decades & had a very special, meaningful relationship to it. It was my pleasure & privilege to have associated with a very special and genuine person in my life, one of Lakeland's Finest's: Daniel "tootuff" Baldry.

Dan and I knew each other both as competing coaches in Basketball and as coaches who shared an office for eight years. During our competing years we would stand on the sidelines discussing a myriad of things....usually involving sports and family. This continued at a much deeper level when we taught and coached at the same school. Everyone, including myself, saw through his rough and brusque persona and saw the love he had for the kids he taught and coached.
My son played basketball for Dan for three years, learning many skills and strategies about the game we all loved so much.
Getting to know Wanda and Beth Ann was a blessing for me as it helped me to understand why Dan was such a loving guy. He always beamed when we talked about them.
Dan will be missed but his legacy will live on forever
