Daisy Mae Griffith Doster's Obituary
Daisy Mae Griffith Doster passed away unexpectedly on October 30 from a brain aneurysm.
Daisy was born on August 21, 1945, in Rebecca, Georgia to Joseph Griffith and Thellie Parkes Griffith. The family moved to Sebring, Florida when Daisy was still young, and she spent her youth in Florida. She married Obie Doster in November 1961, and together they created a daughter, Barbara Jean Doster. Unfortunately, the marriage was not meant to last, and Daisy spent the majority of her life as a fiercely independent single mother. She worked many years and retired from Publix as a cashier and had a number of other retail jobs. Daisy was proud of her work ethic and tried to reflect her Christian values to everyone she met. She had a flamboyant personality and loved sharing her stories with her friends, neighbors and family. Later in life she became a surrogate mother to many neighborhood residents, and to her numerous nieces and nephews. She was happy to live in the area of Bonnet Springs Park and spent many hours walking the park and singing the parks praises to all.
Daisy was predeceased by her parents Joseph Griffith and Thellie Parkes, brothers Ned Griffith, Lewis Griffith, Ronald Griffith, sisters Sarah Williford, Helen Peterson, Hazel Moon, and Juanita Griffith. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Kelley) Bailey, her sisters Betty Barnes, and Allie Mae Spurling, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am Monday morning, 11/4/2024, at Victory Assembly of God Church Light of Lights Chapel, 1401 Griffin Rd in Lakeland. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment will be at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
Flowers will be welcomed but a donation to her beloved Bonnet Springs Park would be much appreciated.
