Cynthia Hanas Jones' Obituary
Cynthia Hanas Jones, 73, passed away on May 27, 2024.
Born on July 31st, 1950, was the daughter of Irene Icenhower and Tom Hanas.
Cynthia was a beloved school teacher who retired in 2014 after a dedicated career spanning 34 years, 27 of which she spent nurturing the minds and hearts of kindergarten students. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with an illness. She now joins her beloved husband of 47 years, Benny Jones, in Heaven, who preceded her in death two years ago.
Born with a gentle spirit and a heart full of compassion, Cynthia devoted her life to the education and well-being of young children, leaving a permanent mark on countless lives. Her classroom was a place of joy, discovery, and warmth, where every child felt valued and loved.
Outside of her professional life, Cynthia was a dedicated and loving mother to her two sons, Casey (Tami) and Davey (Candice). She welcomed her daughters-in-law with open arms, treating them as her own. Known as "Nene" to her three cherished granddaughters, Zoe, Mya, and Ella, Cynthia's legacy of love and kindness will continue through them, as they brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother Richard Hanas and his wife, Susan Duda Hanas.
Throughout her life, Cynthia faced many challenges with remarkable strength and resilience. She was a beacon of love and positivity, ensuring that everyone around her felt happy and content. Her unwavering dedication to her family and students was evident in all she did, and her loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Rest in peace, Cynthia Jones, Mom, and Nene. Your love, kindness, and dedication will forever remain in our hearts.
A Ceremony of Life Celebration will be held on August 3rd, 2024, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Chapel at Victory Church North Lakeland Campus, 1401 Griffin Rd., Lakeland, FL 33810.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be mailed to South McKeel Academy, 2222 Edgewood Drive, Lakeland, FL 33803 in her honor.
