Cindy had a smile that could light up the room. She was such a delight to work with and will be missed!
Cindy and I became friends in Muncie, IN in 1978. Barbara joined our "girl gang" when Cindy and I moved to Philadelphia in 1980. Although work and love ultimately took us to different parts of the country, we all remained close to this very day. Cindy endured so much pain and loss over the past two decades, but showed superwoman strength and resilience through it all. I will miss her more than words can say.
I am sad to hear of Cindy's passing. She has worked with the CDC CLIA team on so many occasions, from serving as one of the early CLIAC members to current support for laboratory test data in the EHR. She always brought gusto and that beautiful smile to the table. It is a sad time for the whole laboratory community. Peace be with you Cindy Johns.
Cindy was such a wonderful person and professional mentor for me. She touched many people. Because of her I got into Lab Management and ended up being a lab supervisor and director for many years. I worked with her in Lakeland around 1983-84. It’s so sad that she went through so much. I lost a beloved sister to breast cancer after a very similar course. Knowing they are at peace now is some comfort.
I am so sad to hear of Cindy's passing. She was always so full of Grace and has inspired me to be a better and more gracious version of myself in life. I do have many, many fond memories with her and know her Angel Wings are flying high now. Cindy Sunshine...I love you and miss you dearly.
(I have attached my last photo with her from her retirement party from LabCorp where I was fortunate enough to fly in and surprise her. One of my most treasured memories.)
