Clayton M. Brower
Palm Harbor – Clayton M. Brower, 87, passed away on Apr. 7, 2015 at Suncoast Hospice Health Center, Palm Harbor, FL.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1927 in Lakeland, FL and moved to the Palm Harbor area in 2005. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School and served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. Mr. Brower was Vice President with Barnett Bank and retired in 1990. He was very active in the community during that time, serving on United Way Campaigns, Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Sertoma Club. He was also PTA President of Combee Elementary School for two years, and a Deacon in the Baptist faith. Mr. Brower also served several Baptist Churches as Minister of Music and participated in Evangelistic revivals and crusades in the Polk County community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ozona and had a passion for sharing the “Good News of Jesus Christ” to all.
Mr. Brower was preceded in death by his daughter, Patti B. Hatcher, his parents, S.H. Brower Sr. and Martha Mills Brower, a brother, S.H. Brower Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey Carson Brower; son-in-law, Gene Hatcher of Tallahassee, FL; grandson, Garrett Eugene Hatcher (Ashley) of Apple Valley, CA; granddaughter, Meredith Hatcher Houston (Thomas) of Oceanside, CA; great grandsons, Bentley and Jacob Hatcher; great granddaughter, Aubrey Patti-Ann Houston; sister, Rosemary Walden of Lakeland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Apr. 11th from 10-11 am at Gapway Baptist Church in Lakeland, with funeral services to follow at 11 am at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Care Center-Brookside, 164 W. Lake Rd. Palm Harbor, FL 34684
