Clark W. (Corky) Matthews, Sr
FORT MEADE – Corky Matthews, our beloved father, grandfather, and brother passed away on October 5, 2024.
He was born July 17, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. He retired from Publix Supermarket Dairy Processing Plant. He was a Christian and an active member of First Baptist Church of Fort Meade where he served as a Deacon for more than 23 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Venita Reves Matthews, his parents, Norman and Frances Matthews, sisters Norma Ann Crews and Susie Gregg, brothers Norman Matthews, Jr and Dale Matthews. He is survived by his son Clark Jr. and wife Carol Matthews of Bartow, daughter Leah and husband Randy Sadler of Fort Meade, grandsons Clark III (Trey) and wife Krystal Matthews of Bartow, Chase Matthews of Fort Worth, Texas, Kirkland Matthews and wife Cassandra of Aurora, Illinois, granddaughter Caitlyn Graves of Fort Meade, great-granddaughters Alyssa Matthews of Lakeland, Charlotte Matthews and Olivia Matthews of Bartow, and great grandson Adonijah Joseph (A.J.) Matthews of Aurora, Illinois, brother Paul Matthews of Fort Meade, sister Darla Townsend of Fort Meade and several extended family members.
Visitation Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10:00am, Service 11:00am. First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church Fort Meade 307 E Broadway, Fort Meade, FL 33841.
