Clarence “Wayne” DeVane, 77
Lakeland – Clarence “Wayne” DeVane passed away on Wed., March 6, 2019.
Wayne was born in Gibsonton, FL on August 1, 1941 to the late John and Ruby DeVane. After retiring from electrical sales, he moved to Lakeland in 2002 from Tampa, FL. Wayne was chairman of the deacon board and children’s bus ministry pastor at Providence Baptist Church in Riverview, FL where he and Gloria were members for 40 years. They were then members at Calvary Baptist Church where he served as bus ministry pastor and attended for 14 years. They have attended Parkway Baptist Church Lakeland, FL for the last 2 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Tomlinson DeVane; son, Ken (Tammie) DeVane of Lakeland; daughters, Debbie (Joel) Chandler of Lakeland and Hope (Jim) Smith of Pretoria, South Africa; sisters, Cassie (Leon) Merrel of Las Vegas, NV and Maxine (Quinton) Kelley of AL; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Monday, March 11th at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. Lakeland, FL. Funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial to take place at Providence Cemetery in Riverview, FL.
