CHRISTINE GREEN MURDOCK, 79
MULBERRY - Christine Green Murdock, 79, passed away from cancer on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at her home in Mulberry, FL. She was born in Winter Haven, FL, on December 17, 1935. She attended Winter Haven High School where she met and married her high-school sweetheart, Newton H. Murdock. As a young couple they moved to Hardee County, where her husband was stationed as a Florida Highway Patrol officer. There she was a homemaker and worked as a beautician. When her husband became sheriff, she worked for him as a jail matron in the Hardee County Sheriff's office. Later they moved to Bradenton, FL, and she worked for the Manatee County Property Appraiser's office where she later retired. During retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church at The Mall, where she enjoyed working in the Compassion House and other ministries within her Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husband, Newton Hilliard Murdock, great granddaughter, Margaret Eylse Lourcey and brother William O. Green. Christine is survived by her 3 daughters, Deborah Choate-Banter, husband Bill of Lakeland, FL, Patricia Wilson, husband Ronald of Wauchula, FL, and Connie Coker, husband Danny of Ft. Green, FL; brother, Lenard Green and sister, Sarah Slocum, both of Winter Haven; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 13th, from 6-8pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Drive, Lakeland. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 14th at 11:00am at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Park in Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Compassion House at FBC at The Mall.
