Charles Mercer Walker
Lakeland – Charles “Granddaddy” Mercer Walker, 80, passed away March 30, 2025.
Mr. Walker was born in Lakeland on May 13, 1944, and remained a lifelong resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He worked for the Railroad and retired from the City of Lakeland Power Plant. He enjoyed cruises, woodworking, traveling to Blue Ridge Georgia, and fishing. His greatest joy though was his golf cart rides and time spent with the “great grandboys.”
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vanita Walker; daughter, Michelle (Mike) Brackin; granddaughters, Katelyn Brackin (Fred) Harrison and Brooke Brackin (Cameron) Armstrong; great grandboys, Allen and Conway Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Marion Walker; and his brother, Ike Walker.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 10-11 am at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Interment will follow the service at Oak Hill Burial Park.
