CHARLES R. 'DICK' McEWEN, 80
LAKELAND - Dick McEwen passed away Sunday May 10, 2015. He was born December 17, 1934, in Tampa, FL. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1951 and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1957 and is a member of the Delta Tau Fraternity. Dick also served in the United States Army Reserve. He was a past President of the Greater Tampa Bay University of Florida Alumni Club and a past President of the Tampa Builders Exchange, Inc. Prior to extensive health issues, he was also active in the Tampa Sports Club and Interbay Sertoma Club. Dick had an extensive career in the glass business with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. before returning to Tampa, retiring as President/Owner of Sunstate Glass Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lillian Benedict and Henry 'Harry' McEwen. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rebecca Clark McEwen, daughter Tamela Ingerick, sister in law Patricia Dean, brother in law Harry Clark, sister in law Kim Clark, niece Cynthia Dean, nephew Luke Clark, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Dick was an avid Florida Gator fan and a Sustaining Member of the University of Florida.
