I don't know if there are enough positive adjectives in the dictionary to describe this great friend and brother in Christ. Charlie and Sally were such an encouragement to me and the entire church family. I loved to visit with them and just listen to their life's stories. Such a tender hearted, soft spoken man. I saw them in "their place" on most Sunday mornings and if they were absent it was usually because they were dealing with some sort of sickness. It was such a blessing to see their family join them in worship. What an amazing family. It was through Charlie and Sally I had the opportunity to also get to know Shannon. She too wanted Christ to be first in her life and it was my great honor to baptize her.
As pastor to this tremendous family we at Mt Tabor were so often the ones who were so greatly blessed by them. It was a sad day for us to say good-bye when they moved to Florida, but we knew it was what was best for them. Charlie and Sally will always have a special place in my heart. A reflection of the Savior they professed radiated from them and into the lives of others they were around.
I know the family is sadden to say good-bye but yet may we celebrate that the Holy Spirit of God who Charlie walked with daily, gently lifted him into the hands of the Savior forever last Friday. And as we come to the end of our life's journey, may we be certain that we too will be able to join our beloved Charlie and Sally at the feet of Jesus.
May the grace of God greatly comfort the family with the embrace of His loving arms.
