Charles "Lou" Jones' Obituary
Charles (Lou) Jones, 83, died on the 22nd of December, 2019, at his home in Lakeland, Florida.
Lou was born on September 27, 1936 in Millville, New Jersey. He spent his childhood in his hometown of Millville, NJ and served in the United States Air Force for four years. He married his sweetheart, Joye (Taylor) on August 10, 1963, in Vineland, NJ. Lou proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for ten years from 1959 to 1969. Lou fathered three sons, Donald (1964), Stephen (1969) and Mark (1971). After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant, he worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-five years and retired in 2000. Lou was an active member in his home church, Open Bible Baptist Church, in Williamstown, NJ for forty-three years. During his time at Open Bible Baptist Church, Lou lovingly served his Lord through bus ministry, being a Sunday school teacher, and serving as a deacon. In 2012, Lou and his wife retired to Lakeland, Florida and attended church at Calvary Baptist Church in Lakeland, FL.
Charles (Lou) Jones is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joye (Taylor) Jones and sons Donald (Sabrina) and Mark (Lisa). Lou is survived by his loving grandchildren, Ashley (John), Cayla (Isaac), Stephen (Anna), Austin (Holly), Danica and three great grandchildren. He was loved by his surviving siblings, Jane, Glenn, and Patricia, and many adoring nieces and nephews. Lou has also been joyfully reunited with his son, Stephen Daniel Jones in a beautiful, heavenly reunion.
Lou will be remembered for his infectious smile, love for others, and his caring spirit. He was known most of all for his outpouring and unconditional love for everyone he came in contact with.
A viewing will be held Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, 1945 N. Florida Avenue, Lakeland, FL, at 10am. A celebration of life will be immediately following. Lou will be buried in a private ceremony for family, with military honors, in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
