Charles Driggers' Obituary
Charles passed away peacefully on December 18, 2016. He was born August 24, 1947 in Savannah, GA. He married Odetha (Dee) Driggers in 1965 and was an accomplished long haul truck driver, having worked for such companies as Coca-Cola, Albertsons and Merita prior to driving independently. Charles visited virtually every major market in America and knew Rand McNally like the back of his hand.
As a Highwayman, Charles loved the freedom of the open road and was known as “Eagle” among his peers. His self-reliance and stick-to-itiveness helped propel his strong work ethic on the road and at home. A master mechanic without the title, Charles could fix just about anything.
Along with his family, he loved country music. Charles had a great voice, and in the comfort of his cab, often sang with Willie, Waylon, Kris and Johnny. Charles is survived by his wife Dee, four children: LaRee King of Mulberry, Loretta (Mark) Anderson of Pensacola, Laura (Larry) Fredrick of Lakeland and Charlie (Kari) Driggers of Clearwater and, three granddaughters: Kaitlin, Nola and Erin.
A Celebration of Life will commence on December 28th at 2:00pm at the Life Center, located at FAM Church, 1400 E Canal Street, Mulberry, Florida. Private Interment will take place at a future date in Nahunta, Georgia.
