Charles David Borders' Obituary
Charles David Borders, 80, of Lakeland, Florida, departed this life on February 18, 2026. Born on July 23, 1945, in Lakeland, he was the son of the late Helen Starling Borders and Leon Ransom Borders. David, as he was commonly known, lived a life marked by steadfast dedication to his family, work, and community.
Throughout his career, David was a cornerstone in the construction and landscaping industry, notably as a builder for Seaworld, a landscaping foreman for the City of Lakeland, and as the founding President of David Borders Construction and Force Dry. His work ethic and leadership were an inspiration to many, and his contributions will remain a part of the community he helped to shape.
A man of faith, David was baptized at Temple Baptist and was a devoted member of Lakes Church. His commitment to his faith was evident in his service to the church, particularly as a volunteer at the preschool and with Operation Christmas Child, where he shared his gentle spirit and kindness with
others.
David's warm demeanor and friendly nature made him a beloved figure in Lakeland. His hobbies, which included designing gold and silver jewelry, fishing, collecting antique tractors and treasure hunting, were a testament to his creativity and zest for life.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife of 33 years, Rhonda Borders; his son, David Allen Borders; his daughter, Linnea Borders; daughter-in-law, Penney Borders; and his treasured grandchildren, Sarah Bridges (married to Carson) and Jacob Borders. His extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends will also hold dear the memory of his kind and amiable presence. David was preceded in death by his siblings, Katherine Smith, Willa Mae Ivy, and Wilburn Borders.
A service to celebrate David's life will be held at Lakes Church on Friday, February 27, with visitation from 5-6 PM followed by the service at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Lakes Church Missions, Lakes Church Preschool, or One More Child, in honor of David's life of service and generosity.
David's life was a living example of a well-lived and well-loved journey. His memory will be treasured and his impact felt for generations to come.
