Ms. Carol Lee Reiber's Obituary
Around 12:30 pm, on December 1, AD 2023, our sovereign God and Savior in His holy wisdom and goodness, called home to Himself, His servant, Mrs. Carol Lee (Frisbie) Reiber, age 91 years. Carol Reiber was born on September 19, AD 1932, in Odell, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her much beloved husband of 69 years (“just as well say 70 since he was the only one I dated in high school”) Roy L. Reiber, by her parents Leonard Frisbie and Bernice Calkins Frisbie and stepmother Jean Frisbie, by her brother Dale Frisbie. She is survived by her sister Linda Chevalier and brother Noel Frisbie (Joyce), by her sons Scott Reiber and his wife Gwen, Craig Reiber and his wife Michelle, and her daughter Christi and her husband Gary, her six grandchildren Nicholas Reiber, Anna Malcolm, Derrick Reiber, Alex Pratt, Emily Pratt, and Abbi Pratt, and four great grandchildren Scott and Molly Grace Reiber, and, Charlie and August Malcolm.
Carol was a faithful wife, mother, and industrious homemaker. In earlier years she had worked as a telephone operator in Hastings, Ne. Upon their move to Lakeland, Fl., she was given and raised the three of us with a wonderful Christian example which included her complete devotion to Dad in marriage and the home; her home was always very clean, clothes washed and put up, dishes washed until the boys were old enough to wash and dry; supper was always ready and promptly served at 5:30; Dad’s lunch box always meticulously packed, and of course seeing to it that each of us completed our Sunday School lesson on Saturday to be ready for Sunday School and Sunday Morning Worship. After the children were up and out she worked at the Child Development Center of Covenant Presbyterian Church. There she continued to mother children until she retired in December of 1995. She prized having Gary and Christi and their children next door who helped her so much in her declining years. Covenant Presbyterian Church provided great support both from the pastoral staff and elders as well as many members. Mom found opportunities to support others who experienced the trials of the death of a spouse.
Dad and Mom were very much clear, vocal, and exemplary in their evangelical and Reformed profession of faith Christ as their Savior and Lord. They were definite in their thanksgiving to His free grace for saving them. Christ is the One in whom they trusted and often entreated in prayer for us, knowing that He is powerful to save. From this union with Christ flowed all of life. Carol was of the strong and direct character, “reverent…temperate, faithful in all things” (I Tim. 3:11). She set an exemplary pattern for her children and grandchildren. In the days Dad was in declining health she carefully saw to his needs. As she exemplified Prov. 31:27, “She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” So too we would rise up as well to give heart-felt thanks to the Lord for our mother: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.’ Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.”
We are deeply thankful to the Lord for a godly example and heritage by a loving wife, faithful mother, wise grandmother, and disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. Until the day we join the host of the redeemed in glory, her family prizes her legacy in our minds and hearts.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to all for the expressions of love and prayers for us during this time.
Memorials may be directed to Covenant Presbyterian Church.
