Carol Ann Jenkins Cheyne's Obituary
Lakeland resident Carol Ann Jenkins Cheyne, 83 passed away peacefully at her home on August 30th.
Carol Ann was born on November 27, 1937 in Orlando to Inez and Marion Jenkins. She moved to Lakeland in 1949. Carol Ann graduated from Lakeland High School in 1955 and then Florida Southern College in 1959. She became an elementary school teacher and married Homer, her high school sweetheart, soon after college graduation.
She enjoyed all aspects of teaching until her family began to grow. With the addition of her first child, Carol Ann retired from teaching and became a full time homemaker. She loved raising her children and was very committed to her family. Later, she would enjoy spending quality time with her seven grandchildren. Many family members, friends, and acquaintances knew how generous Carol Ann was with her time and talents. If someone was in need, she was quick to help in any way she could.
Carol Ann was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She loved Jesus and was deeply committed to her Christian faith.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Homer Cheyne, son David Cheyne (Debbie), daughter Deborah Ridall (Kevin), and daughter, Jennifer Elliott (Bill). She is also survived by one granddaughter and six grandsons.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 10th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4450 Harden Blvd in Lakeland at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Southeastern Guide Dogs.
