Billy W Campbell's Obituary
Billy Wilson Campbell, 77 years old, went to heaven Thursday, February 18, 2016 in Lakeland, Florida. He was born to the late William & Daisy Campbell on February 11, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Bill was a highly sought after and accomplished contractor and consultant, as his contributions are evident in his worldwide projects located in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Brunei, Pakistan, Indonesia, United States, to name a few. He was owner of Intercontinental Project Systems, responsible for many world class structures from bridges, hotels, and royal palaces. As a worldwide traveler, there was rarely a city or country to which was unfamiliar to him but as a simple man, his heart was always at home.
Although successful in his work life, his biggest legacy is left with his family and friends. Bill was a man of a few words but led with example. His strength in character is overshadowed by his incredible heart. He helped many friends and family members in need, sacrificing his own needs and desires to make sure others came first. Whether it be providing all things necessary to ensure the success of his wife and children, helping his brothers and friends in need, or just giving his own Gatorade or bananas to others to make them happy, he did so selflessly and without a second thought. The lessons and experiences he gave and taught to all that knew him will be carried on in the light of his memory.
His interests include traveling, planes, history (particularly civil war), politics, family, and friends. He had a love for the beach, specifically New Smyrna Beach where he had many fond memories. Although an avid food connoisseur, his favorites were cheeseburgers, barbecue, and egg salad. No barbecue was better than his son's, Randy.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cherry Campbell, son Randy Campbell, daughters Marcelle Dougherty and Maureen Lawson, sons in laws Ryan Dougherty and Jeremy Lawson, grandchildren Emily and Lauren Campbell, brothers Alan, Jimmy, Larry, and Wayne Campbell, amongest many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life was held in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 12:00 noon.
