Betty Walters
Albe Stamp and Engraving
Lakeland – Betty Walters passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Lima, OH on December 2, 1938 to Ralph and Frieda (Grill) Louck. She graduated from Lima High School in1956 and became secretary to the principal where she worked for several years.
Betty is survived by the love of her life, Ron, whom she was married to for 57 years. Together they had one son, Marc (Melissa) Walters of Mt. Olivet, KY, a daughter, Dawn (Scott) Emling of Palm Coast, FL and a Godson, Van Flowers of Glen Allen, VA, 5 grandchildren, Aaron (Elizabeth) Walters, Ashley Walters, A.J. Walters, Kaitlyn Degel and Paige Emling, 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
Betty and her friend, Toni Stewart, started Albe Stamp and Engraving in the late 80’s making rubber stamps, award plaques and trophies. After 12 years, Betty retired and she and Ron traveled the U.S.A. viewing God’s beautiful world. In 2007, Betty began an Outreach Ministry “Stitches of Love” at First Baptist Church at The Mall where she and Ron have been members since the 1970’s. Betty has served on various committees while attending church there, but her greatest blessing was “Stitches of Love”. This ministry has grown immensely by creating items that are crocheted, knitted and sewn, then shared with thousands around local nursing homes, hospitals, hospices and world missions.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, Jan. 28th from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Drive. There will also be visitation on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00am at First Baptist Church at The Mall, 1010 E. Memorial Blvd. A memorial celebration will follow at 11:00am in the Chapel of the church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Stitches Ministry, or the Betty Walters Missions Scholarship Fund, both are in care of First Baptist Church At The Mall.
