Betty Roberts and her husband Miles treated me as a son and were there for me when I needed their guidance during my stay at the old Brown homestead in th Green Swamp Wildlife Management Area. We had many laughs together and Betty kept me well fed. They both liked to tease me and when I was asked if I liked mud fish I replied, “Hell no!.. I don’t eat those things!” About two days later Miles called me at my office and invited me to supper. After eating about 6 or 8 fig patties and commenting how good they were Miles grinned his sly grin and told me that he didn’t think I liked mud fish!! You could have heard Betty laughing in Polk City! I loved them both and am fortunate enough travel had the opportunity to tell Betty that and how much they meant to me about a month ago… I will never forget them…Larry Parrish, FHP, retired.
