Betty Jane Davenport's Obituary
Betty Jane Davenport, age 86, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family in Lakeland on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Born on February 12, 1940, in Virginia, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Eunice (Ezelle) Epperson.
On December 3, 1966, Betty married Norman Edward Davenport, and their union lasted until his passing on March 8, 2014.
In 1974, Betty moved to Polk County with her family, where she had the privilege of being a stay at home mother for many years. She made a lasting impact in her community, as she dedicated many years of her professional life to serving others as a Director of Social Services, retiring in the early 1990s. Her work reflected her deep care for people and her commitment to helping those in need and serving her family.
Betty found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She had a special love for butterflies, animals, and flowers, and cherished family vacations—especially cruises. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family, creating memories that will be held close for generations.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Katie (Leslie) Frederick, Konie Anderson, Adrienne (Victor) Reeves, and Michelle (Todd) Rappaport; her 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to live on through them.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be announced.
Betty will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
