BARBARA BRITT JAMES, 82
LAKELAND - Barbara Britt James, 82, passed away on May 15, 2016. Barbara was born and raised in Lakeland. She recently celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary and is survived by her husband, Luther (Jeff) James, Jr. She was a child of God, a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many. She attended Winston Elementary and graduated from Kathleen High School, Class of 1952.
Barbara is also survived by daughter, Vicki Spears of Lakeland; son, Glenn (Mary) of Lakeland; granddaughter, Brittany Spears of New Port, NC; brother, Willard Britt; and 26 nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by parents, Calvin and Mary Britt; brothers, Clarence, C.B. (Boots), and Woodrow; and sisters, Emmie, Ruth, and Melvina.
Visitation will be at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Drive, Lakeland, FL 33810, on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at New Home Baptist Church, 901 N. Galloway Road, Lakeland, FL 33810, on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
