Barbara Ann Bishop's Obituary
Barbara Ann Tyler Bishop, 88, formerly of Pensacola, Florida, passed into Heaven Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in Lakeland after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family as she went peacefully.
Barbara was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Ildred and Guy Tyler. She remained in Biloxi until she married in 1951 and became a military wife who traveled widely during her husband’s career. She eventually settled in Pensacola, where she worked in retail before retiring to care for her mother. A member of the Parish of Little Flower Catholic Church, Barbara volunteered at the Mother Teresa Mission for fifteen years. She enjoyed fishing with her mother, traveling with her family, and working crossword puzzles.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, by her two brothers, James Tyler and Gerald Tyler, and by her granddaughter, Jacqueline Mize Parks. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lynn Mize (Howard), of Lakeland, FL; her three sons, Harry E. Bishop of Sarasota, FL; James M. Bishop of Collierville, TN; and Jeffery A. Bishop of Pensacola. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine C. Dobbins of Pensacola; her aunt, Lillian Drucker of Kenner, LA; as well as six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews including her namesake, Barbara Kay Dobbins of Ocala.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Mother Teresa Mission at Little Flower Church, 6495 Lillian Highway, Pensacola, FL 32506.
