Avis Herndon Crews' Obituary
Avis Herndon Crews, beloved mother and friend, went to meet her Savior on March 2, 2025, at the age of 86. Born April 18, 1938, in Lakeland, Florida. She was a devoted mother and friend who cherished spending time with her children and precious grandchildren. Avis was the matriarch of our family. She could always find a kind word to say about anyone. She loved to dance, sing karaoke and be outside working in her flower beds. Watching the variety of birds at her feeders brought her great enjoyment. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who loved her so much.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Herndon and wife Betty, mother and dad Martha and Charles P. Cook, daughter Rhonda Glass, brother Milo Cook, sisters Shirley Clifton and Judy Woods.
Survived by sons, David Glass of Lake Alfred, Joseph Glass of Deland, daughters Donna Cleveland of Leavenworth, KS, Debra McClure and husband David of Lake Alfred, Kristie Cantrell and husband Mark of Mills River, NC. Brother Hugh Clayton Cook of Lakeland, sisters, Charlotte Barefoot and husband John of Kathleen, Linda Smith of Mulberry. 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Many special family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on March 22, 2025, at 1PM at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, 1727 Bartow Road Lakeland, Florida.
Burial will be at Oak Hill following the memorial.
