Arthur L. Applewhite's Obituary
Arthur L. Applewhite (Sonny), 79, of Lakeland, FL died on August 26, 2018 at Good Shepherd Hospice. Mr. Applewhite was born in Tallahassee, Florida to Arthur L. & Lois (Stephens) Applewhite. He moved to Lakeland in 1972, coming from Miami. Sonny was a member of several International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) unions throughout Florida, where he worked as an electrical foreman, and participated in several hurricane relief projects throughout his career. He was a navy veteran and a member of the VFW 8002. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, John K. Applewhite and Charlotte Miller. Arthur is survived by his wife of 23 years Barbara of Lakeland, FL; Son, Arthur H. Applewhite (Arlene) of Ocala, FL; daughters, Janice L. Carroll (Chuck) of Charleston, SC and Doreen M. Barnes (Don), Mulberry, FL; siblings, James E. Applewhite (Barbara) of Lakeland, FL, Morris P. Applewhite (Kathy) of Ellington, FL, Daniel J. Applewhite (Carol) of Lakeland, FL and Dolly Puzon (James) of Lakeland, FL; 7 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hall Dr, Lakeland. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
