Arlene Douglas Morton-Cogar
Lakeland - Arlene Cogar of Lakeland, FL passed away on Tuesday February 19, 2019. She was born in 1937 in Heaters, WV to the late Ruble and Belle Douglas. Arlene married Pete Morton and reared two children, Debra and Marco.
She graduated from Sutton High School in 1956 and attended Weaver Airline Personnel School in Kansas City, MO. Arlene began her career with Capital/United Airlines in Washington, DC. She worked for the Department of Army at Ft. Belvoir, VA and retired from Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) in Washington, DC in 1997. Arlene lived in Dale City, VA until retirement and returned to WV, and then on to Lakeland, FL. She was of Methodist Faith and was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Douglas. Survivors include her husband, David Cogar of Lakeland FL; daughter Debra and husband, Lewis Adkins of Plant City, FL; son, Marco and wife Vanessa Morton of Pasadena, MD; grandchildren, Michael Migliaccio, Teresa Brown, Ashley Morton MacKinnon, Blaine Morton, Deidre Morton White; great grandchildren, Dustin Adkins and Molly Sky Yeomans, Amelia and Carolyn MacKinnon; stepdaughter, Amy Cogar Miller of Bridgeport, WV; step grandchildren, Trevor, Treyton, and Chloe Miller and Brittany West of Pasadena, MD; step great grandchildren, Baylie, Anthony, Daisy Lou and George Marco.
Visitation will be Friday, February 22, 1:30-2:30 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel, 3350 Mall Drive, Lakeland, FL. Services will begin at 2:30pm and interment will be at Serenity Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 or FEED THE CHILDREN.
