Ann Lewis Gravett Parker
Lakeland – Ann Lewis Gravett Parker, 92, left us June 24, 2015, passing away due to natural causes.
Ann was born in Roanoke, VA on Jan. 1, 1923. She was a World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard, as was her husband Gene, who preceded her in death. Ann and Gene were residents of Lakeland since 1972, having relocated from Detroit, MI.
She’s survived by her brother, Ira “Luck” Gravett and his family, Petaluma, CA; cousins, Peter and Betty Joe East, Kill Devil Hills, NC, James and Peggy Mead, Roanoke, VA; and many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the South, Arizona and Michigan. Also a special friend and helpmate, Phyllis Dixon of Lakeland.
Prior to Ann’s failing health, she was active with the SPCA, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Lakeland and with her neighbors at Lake Morton Plaza.
A service will be held Mon. June 29th at 10 am at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Lakeland. Private burial will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s name to the SPCA of Lakeland or St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop.
