Alvin Charles Gerard's Obituary
Alvin Charles Gerard, 87, born on August 16, 1931, died on June 30, 2019.
Alvin was born to the late Henry and Rose (Terrian) Gerard, in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Solomon Juneau High School, Class of 1950. Al worked as a clerk for many years at National T Grocery Store before enlisting in the US Navy, serving on a minesweeper in the Korean War. After service, he married Kathleen A. Weber. They were married 64 years. Al and Kathy were blessed with 7 children. Al worked for United Airlines in customer service for 43 years. Al is a lifetime member of the VFW. He was commander for 5 years.
After retirement, Al and Kathy moved to Lakeland, FL. Al loved spending time with family, he was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed playing golf in Highland Fairways, where he made many friends.
Al is survived by his wife Kathleen; children Judy (Karney), Jeff (Cindy), Mark, Mike (Allison), and Eric (Lisa); Sister Helen Mineau, 12 grandchildren - Cheryl, Kim (Tim), Scott, T.J., Ben, Madelyn, Preston, Michael, Brennen, David, Stacey(Jake), and Jacob; 2 Great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Callan; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rose Gerard; children, Connie and Lori; brother, Earl Gerard; sisters, Irene Whiting and Jeanette Zek.
Funeral Mass will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakeland, FL on Wednesday, July 17 at 10:30am.
Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL the following day at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the VFW in Hales Corners, WI or Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland, FL.
