Alta May Sype's Obituary
Alta was born August 6, 1922 to Virgil and Mildred McCracken in Monterey Park, CA. She was predeceased by her parents; Don Sype, her husband of 63 years; and her brother Donald McCracken.
She is survived by daughters, Gayle Moore (Jim) and Sherry Schulz; her son Cory Sype (Barbara) all of Lakeland; granddaughter Cheri Paulsen (Darcy) of Tampa; grandson James Moore (Julie) of Urbandale, IA; grandson Joshua Sype (Holly) of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughter Katelyn Sype, of Lakeland; 4 great-grandchildren, Cindy Dellinger (Kegan) of Jacksonville; Kellie Etling of Tampa; Lilly Sype and Jaxon Sype of Winston-Salem; her sister Harriett Lowden of Niles, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She married Don on September 5, 1942. She served the Lord faithfully as a preacher’s wife and a Sunday School teacher. Together, she and Don served churches in Southern California; Flemington, MO; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Lakeland, FL; and an interim stint at Lake Okeechobee, after Don retired from fulltime ministry. She retired from teaching children after her 93rd birthday.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 9, 2018 at Legacy Christian Church located at 901 West Beacon Road, Lakeland. There will be a time of visitation with the family at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alta’s memory to Legacy Christian Church to be used to benefit the Children’s Ministry.
