In Loving Memory of Allan Charles Ohlsen
Allan Charles Ohlsen, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Lakeland, Florida. He was 76 years old.
Allan was a dedicated family man and is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Himmelheber Ohlsen, and his loving daughters, Jeannie Christodoulou, and Tammy Ohlsen. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughters, Jaclynne and Jessa, who were a source of great joy in his life. Allan was born in New Britain, Connecticut, on August 5, 1947, to Allan Ohlsen and Anita Zadanskas. Many stories of his youth on his parents' farm with younger brother Robert Ohlsen (deceased) were often shared with friends and family. After his family moved to Florida, Allan joined the US Navy and proudly served his country aboard the USS Great Sitkin (AE-17). He graduated from the University of Florida, where he started dating and fell in love with Linda, his wife of 51 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life in Lakeland, Florida, where they resided for 45 years. Allan owned and operated his water treatment business, serving his community for 16 years with integrity, dedication and expertise. He was also an active member of the Highlands United Methodist Church, where he served as the Trustee Chairman for many years, exemplifying his commitment to his faith and his community. Allan was a man of many talents and passions, and his commitment to self-reliance and craftsmanship was truly remarkable. He had a deep love for boating and found solace in his cabin in Tennessee, a haven he built with his own hands. Allan also had an endearing affection for his feline companions, who were his loyal partners on the trips to Tennessee. He had a love for cooking and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for his family, particularly during the cherished holiday season. Allan was known for his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand and his remarkable ability to fix just about anything. With a kind heart and a skilful touch, he left a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to know him. While it's impossible to fully encompass the lives Allan touched, or the countless people who will deeply miss him, Allan Charles Ohlsen will be remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering dedication to family, and commitment to serving others. His legacy of love, hard work and faith will continue to inspire those who knew him. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who knew and loved him.
