Alfred T. Blair Jr.'s Obituary
Alfred T. Blair, Jr.
Age 75
On Tuesday, June 13th, Al moved! He changed his address! He departed from his Earthly home and entered his Heavenly home, taking up residency with his Jesus. He had family by his side during this peaceful time. Al was a loving husband who is survived by his wife of 48 1/2 years, Janice D. Blair, as well as his four children: Jerrie Jacobs, Alfred T. Blair Ill, Jennifer Loper, and Janet Blair. In addition, Al is also survived by six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
During his time here, Al served in several workplace settings but the career he retired from was that of a Laboratory Technician with Shell Chemical Company where he worked for many years.
Al is frequently described as an intelligent man who liked to help solve problems, even if doing so meant he was the one who would be doing the “fixing.” Additionally, Al was a kind, generous, and dependable man. If there was a need, Al would go out of his way to give and “solve that problem” or help meet that need. In his early years, with a strong, beautiful voice, Al was always heard singing or whistling. He found pleasure in listening to gospel music. The Inspirations was one of his favorite gospel groups. He enjoyed traveling and many times would attend concerts performed by The Inspirations. Visiting his property in the mountains was a prime destination of his. He was an active man too. He often took up sports such as running, bike riding, bowling and such. For most all of his life, he enjoyed cooking and was great at that too! In fact, one of his many specialties, that several people knew, remembered and liked, was his homemade macaroni and cheese which often appeared at church events or family gatherings. Al was friendly to all he met. He loved his family, church, and friends! But while the list of great qualities that Al possessed are abundant and could easily be continued, perhaps one of his very best qualities was that he loved Jesus and he longed to know more about him. Al would spend countless hours studying and discussing scripture as he enjoyed learning new things, especially things that he was passionate about such as getting to know even more about his Lord and Savior. Al knew he was going to Heaven! But his heart, until the very end, was troubled about those who he’d never see again; those who haven’t accepted Christ and would be separated from him for eternity. In fact, he even expressed that concern during one of his last conversations with his wife! It was Al’s goal to teach others about Christ and lead them into a relationship with Him.
For those who knew Al, there is a huge void. Earth is deficit. He will always be missed, remembered and forever in the hearts of those who loved him!
