William L. Callahan, age 86, of Lakeland, Florida passed away suddenly on June 18, 2026.
He was born on April 11, 1940 in Braddock, PA to Robert and Annette Callahan.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Anena; son, William L. Callahan, Jr (Lori); daughter, Colleen M. Pierce (Duane); stepdaughter, Sharon Dodson (Chap); stepsons, Michael Bartok (Lori), and John Bartok.
Also survived by 10 grandchildren; Matthew (Morgan), Rob, Steven, Mandie, Lacie, Jennifer, Dana, Zach, Ryan (Brenna), and Kylan (Leah).
Bill also leaves behind 10 greatgrandchildren. The youngest, Callahan Kay, was born in 2025. He took pleasure in watching all sports, but he especially enjoyed time with family. His children and grandchildren were always encouraged to become capable, kind, and independent adults. Bill had a dry sense of humor that wasn't always obvious at first, leaving people to wonder if he was serious. He also loved poker nights with the guys!
Bill was a retired Sergeant with the Metropolitan Police Department, Washington, DC and he also served in the Army.
He coached girls softball teams for 10 years and also coached boys football teams.
Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia A. Pascarella; his parents, Robert N. and Annette Rodgers Callahan; and his brother, Robert Callahan.
At Bill's request, there were no memorials or services. A Celebration of Life will be private and held at a future date.
