VIRGIL N.SYKES, Jr., 85 Sykes Spray Service

LAKELAND - Virgil N. Sykes, Jr., 85, of Lakeland, died Friday, April 11, 2014, of heart failure. He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Lana; his children and their spouses: Nick, Gary (Bettye), Scott, Randy (Linda), Victor (Theresa), and Susan (Terry) Reneau; and mother of his children: Grace and step-son Rick Sadler. Known as "Pop Pop" to his 24 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, he is remembered for his boats, fishing and horseriding adventures and pride in his family and business, Sykes Spray Service, which he founded in 1951. Visitation will be Monday 6 - 8 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens. Funeral service Tuesday 10 am at Griffin Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Serenity Gardens.
