Vera Mae Hall, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 9, 2026.
Vera was born on December 2, 1938, in Duncan, Oklahoma to the late Robert Lewis and Virginia (Brown) Lewis. She grew up in Texas City, Texas before attending Bethany Nazarene College in Oklahoma where she met her husband of 41 years, Lew Hall, Sr.
Vera truly enjoyed working, and after she raised her family, she returned to work where she served others until her health no longer permitted her to. During her career, she served as the secretary to the Vice President of the University of Louisville, secretary to the District Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene, secretary to the Senior Pastor of Highland Park Church, and finally retired at 82 years old after serving for years at the family business, Gentry Morrison Funeral Homes. Her compassionate spirit and keen listening skills made her an invaluable asset to all the people she encountered in her different roles.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Lew Hall, Sr.; grandson, Blake Story; and her siblings, Greta Strange, Helen Callier and Rev. Robert Lewis. She is survived by her son, Lew Hall, Jr. and his wife Anita; daughter, Faith Story; grandchildren, Trey Hall and his wife Lauren, Brooke White and her husband Matt, Todd Taylor and his wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Shelby Hall, Lane Hall, Garner White, Hollis White, Paxton Story, Timmy Taylor and Hanna Taylor; her beloved companion dog, Sophie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Our family was immensely blessed to have her as our “Momma” and “Nana.”
Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Saturday, August 22nd at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel, followed by funeral services at 11 am. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens.
