Stephen Farina, passed away on June 11, 2026, at his residence in Lakeland, Florida, surrounded by his children. Born on August 9, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York, and relocated to Lakeland, Florida in 1987. It was here where he raised his family, worked, retired and enjoyed life.
Stephen proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he built a distinguished military career culminating in his retirement as a Master Sergeant. He made a significant mark by opening the first recruiting office in Lakeland, Florida, helping to shape the futures of many young men and women interested in serving their country. Beyond his military service, Stephen was a man of the Catholic faith who found joy in his hobbies outside of duty. He was an avid gun collector and enthusiast, a passion that brought him great satisfaction. Additionally, Stephen loved spending time at the beach, enjoying the natural calm and beauty it provided. A loyal and passionate sports fan, he was a lifelong New York Yankees supporter, carrying his team’s spirit with him through every season.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Ludden, and her husband Richie; his son, Christopher Farina, and his wife Adrienne; and his sister, Josephine Cretella, alongside her husband Louie. His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Tristenne, Ava, Micah, and Anistenne, each of whom brought joy and light to his life.
A visitation will be held on June 17, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes - Southside Chapel located at 1727 Bartow Road in Lakeland, Florida. Following this, a committal service with military honors will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, starting at 12:30 p.m. The community is invited to join in honoring Stephen’s life and legacy during these services.
