Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Sarah Nell Wiley Anthony on June 20, 2024. Born on November 14, 1937, Sarah graced this world with a spirit of kindness, love, and unwavering faith. Sarah is the cherished wife of Glen Parker Anthony, with whom she shared a remarkable 66-year journey of love and devotion. They were married on June 20, 1958, a union that stood as a testament to enduring commitment and partnership. A wonderful child of God, Sarah's life was a beacon of light to all who knew her. As a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, her family will dearly miss her. She is survived by her husband, Parker, children, John, Thomas (Marisa), and Jean Barber (David); her grandchildren, Katherine, Rachel, Parker, Christopher, and Elizabeth; her sister, Joette Garnto; and her sister-in-law, Jean Thackrey. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Wiley Beckham, father, Lowell Wiley, and her sister, Kathryn Spickard. Sarah stood faithfully beside Parker as an Elder's wife for many years, providing quiet, steadfast support to both him and the congregation. Her gentle and humble service to others was a testament to her deep faith and love for her Brothers and Sisters. Whether offering a listening ear, preparing meals for those in need, or offering a comforting presence during times of trouble, Sarah's acts of kindness were countless and immeasurable. Her selfless dedication and unwavering commitment to the church and its members will forever be remembered and cherished. Sarah's compassionate heart was also evident in her career as a nurse at Winter Haven Hospital, where she dedicated many years to caring for others. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her professional life, as she lovingly cared for her mother in her later years. A woman of many talents, Sarah found joy and expression in painting, creating beautiful works of art that will continue to inspire and bring solace to those who view them. She also delighted in cooking for her loved ones, finding treasures while thrifting, and walking. Sarah fought a long and courageous battle, demonstrating remarkable strength and grace throughout her journey. We take comfort in knowing she is victorious, resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord. In remembering Sarah, we celebrate a life filled with love, creativity, and unwavering faith. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Oak Hill Burial Park.
