Sandra Toledo passed away on December 5th 2023, at the age of 76. She was born in Cumberland, Maryland and raised in Lakeland by her parents, Sidney & Alice.

She attended Lakeland schools graduating from Lakeland Senior High in 1965. She graduated with her BA in teaching from the University of Miami. Sandra dedicated her life to our community beginning with teaching, then working for the Department of Children and Families in the foster care system during which she became a part of Polk County Christmas Angels in the early 80's. Her passion for helping children led her to lead the charity for over 30 years. After retirement from DCF, she returned to teaching for several years. Even after her retirement from the school board, she was still highly involved in community projects.

She is survived by her sister, Judy Harrington, brother, Richard Halterman, children, David, Brianne, & Joseph, and 3 grandchildren.
