Obituary

Samuel Trim was born on May 5th, 1926, in Sangre Grande, Trinidad, to Beatrice McMillian and Joseph Trim. Samuel, known as Sam to his friends, was raised in a large close-knit family and was the youngest of eight children. He attended school and later worked as a taxi driver, becoming well-known in his community. In 1946, at the age of 20, Sam married Joyce; they had two sons, Ancil and Kenwrick. Sam emigrated to London, England, in 1956, where he obtained employment with the Royal Post Office as a driver. He was a hard worker, had a reputation for his safe driving, never having an accident or traffic violation and always being on time for work, never taking a day off. Sam later met and married his second wife Clarice (Jean) McKenzie and became stepdad to her three children Nicholas, Carol and Paulette. Sam and Jean purchased a home in Tottenham North London on Broadwater Road, he worked nights during the week and on weekends, spent time socializing with family and his many friends, some of whom remained life-long friends, such as the Thomas's and the Kaines. Sam was a good cook, he loved his "Trini" food and Soca music. In 1974, Sam moved to the United States settling in New Jersey where he worked at Orange Memorial Hospital as a Nursing Assistant. He also managed an apartment building, before retiring to Florida in 2001. Sam enjoyed retirement at his dream home in Davenport, Florida. He spent time in his private pool, attending church as well as many family functions. People often commented that he "looked great" for his age", he was physically and mentally active up to his mid 90's. In September 2022, at age 96, Sam was involved in his very first automobile accident which changed his life. After a lengthy illness, Sam passed peacefully at home on December 30, 2024, with his wife and daughter holding his hand. Sam was survived by his wife Jean, sons and daughter as well as many grandchildren (Kenwrick's 4, Nick's 7, Carol's 5 and Paulette's 2). He will be remembered for the kind, loving and wonderful family man that he was and will be missed by all who knew him.
