Samuel Drexel Mosley's Obituary
Samuel “Drexel” Mosley, 90, passed away early Saturday morning, September 13th, surrounded by family. He was born on March 5, 1935, in Ft Meade, Florida, as one of six children.
In 1957, he married the love of his life, Aubry Jeanette Waters. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage as best friends and partners, raising four children and later celebrating the blessing of eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Drexel proudly served with the Highway Patrol for 25 years. He then worked at Commercial Carriers for another 19 years. After retirement, he and Jeanette followed God’s call to serve as missionaries in East Asia. A devoted member of Kathleen Baptist Church, Drexel was known for greeting everyone he could, often driving up and down the aisles on his scooter to share a smile and handshake. He loved his Sunday school class, and he faithfully served for years by teaching Royal Ambassadors to reach young people.
Outside of church, Drexel’s passions included fishing—he never missed a chance to cast a line—and cheering on his beloved Florida Gators, a tradition he happily passed down through generations, even while Jeanette remained a loyal FSU fan.
Drexel’s faith, family, and friendships defined his life. He will be deeply missed until the day of reunion in Heaven with Jesus.
A celebration of life service will be held at Kathleen Baptist Church, 3939 2nd St NW, Lakeland, FL 33810, on Thursday, Sept. 18th, with viewing from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with services to begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
