Rebecca "Becky" Sue Ryder, a beacon of love and joy, aged 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Lakeland, Florida, on December 9, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 1, 1954, in South Bend, Indiana, to Harry Thomas (Tom) Nash and Lois (Leser) Curtis, Becky's radiant spirit was a gift to all who knew her. Becky's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her community. She spent her childhood in South Bend, creating fond memories that she often shared with laughter and love. She later moved to Lakeland, Florida, where she lived for over 40 years, touching many lives through her involvement in local charities and as a beacon of kindness in her neighborhood.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her sons, Thomas (Tommy) Witz Nash and Robert (Robbie) Michael Ryder, her beloved grandchildren, Nolan William Ryder, Mason Thomas Kosta Nash, and Chase Preston Thomas Nash, will forever hold her in their hearts. Also mourning her loss are her father, Harry Thomas Nash, stepmother Sondra Nash, and siblings Celinda Bruns, Lizabeth Setliff, Martin Nash, Jennifer Vergon, Debora Kelley, and Diane Yard.
Known for her ability to light up a room with her smile, Becky was a nurturing presence to everyone she met. She lived with a fierce sense of humor and a profound capacity for empathy, making lasting connections with everyone she encountered. Becky's warmth, laughter, and loving spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Becky.
Becky's life will be celebrated in a service to be held Thursday, December 21st at Eaglebrooke Clubhouse 1300 Eaglebrooke Blvd. Lakeland, FL 33813 From 5pm-8pm, with services officiated by Connie Rawlings at 6 pm. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to ASPCA, a charity close to Becky's heart.
