Pilar Vilar 90 of Lakeland, FL entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Good Shepherd Hospice. Pilar was born in Puerto Rico to Jose' & Maria (Lazus) Gutierrez. She was a longtime resident of Rochester, NY, and was a professor of Spanish and English at Monroe Community College. Pilar has been a resident of Lakeland, FL since 2011, coming from Haines City, FL, and was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Pilar is survived by her children; Maria V. (James) Seelman of Rochester, NY, Elizabeth (Mel) Reichman of West Chester, PA, James Vilar of Rochester, NY, and Diane M. (Jeffrey) Long of Lakeland, FL. She is also survived by her sister Mary Brown, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11:30 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Rd., Lakeland, FL 33809.
