Obituary

Patsy Joyce Pridgen, aged 67, of Ooltewah Tennessee, passed away on July 20, 2026 in Lakeland Florida after a brief illness. Her family was by her side. Patsy was born on May 1, 1959 in Broxton Georgia to parents Billy and Rosie Pridgen. She was the third child, and first girl, born to the couple who would go on to have 5 more children. Patsy attended school in Florida, graduating from Lakeland High School in 1977. Patsy was a hard worker throughout her life, most recently retiring after many years of working at McKee Foods ("Little Debbie"). Contrary to the popular advice of "Don't bring your work home with you", her family often encouraged her to do just that! Oatmeal Creme Pies, Nutty Buddy's, Swiss Rolls... you get the idea. Patsy enjoyed her time there and the friendships she formed over the years. In her early twenties, Patsy met and fell in love with Gene Kinser, who also brought his young son Rodney into her life. Together, Patsy and Gene built a life in Tennessee and remained together and devoted to each other until his passing in 2024. Patsy loved her family very much! Never being blessed with a child of her own, she was a BELOVED AUNT, even becoming a self-proclaimed "Grammy" to her great-nephew Icahn. She also treasured the "fur babies" that she shared her life with throughout the years. Poochie, Bruce Lee, and most recently, Cocoa. We promise to give Cocoa lots of love and spoil her the way that you would have!! Patsy enjoyed traveling, shopping (especially thrifting), feeding the wild rabbits and birds in her backyard, and spending time with her family.

Patsy was preceded in death by Gene Kinser and their baby girl who passed away before being born. Her mother and father, Rosie and Billy Pridgen. Her brothers, David Pridgen and Donnie Pridgen, Her sister, Betty Pridgen, Her brother-in-law, David Gobrecht, and Her niece, Donna Pridgen.

Patsy is survived by her brother, Joe Pridgen (+ Elaine) and her sisters, Faye Sherrouse (+ Kevin), Connie Barreto (+ Frank), Marie Pridgen (+ Donnie). Nieces + Nephews (Christina, Ray, Taylor, Caleb, Madison, Jon, Kaylee, Ross, Destiny, Donnie) -- Great Nieces + Nephews (Destiny, Aden, Aaron, Ashton, Bentley, Liam, Layne, Rosie, Noah, Kinsley, Easton, Icahn, Nevaeh, Alaya) ALSO, Rodney Kinser, Kathy Freeman (+ Tommy), David Kinser (+ Hilda) and many beloved members of the Kinser family.

Services will be held at Gentry Morrison on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 12pm. Visitation at 11am.
