LAKELAND - Michael 'Travis' Gunder, 45, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away after a short battle with cancer on September 24, 2014, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Travis was a graduate of Lake Gibson High School and University of Central Florida where he received a degree in business management. He was co-owner of Gunder's Auto Center of Lakeland, where he worked side by side with his family.
Travis was a proud father of his twins, Grant and Grace, who were the light of his life. Travis was a loyal brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity where he made lifelong friends. As a remarkable all-around athlete, he excelled in football playing with the Lakeland Lumberjacks, LGHS Braves, and UCF Knights. Travis was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. He was an assistant coach for his son's football team, enjoying the tradition of when his father coached him.
Travis was a compassionate, protective and loyal father, son, brother and friend. He was inquisitive and loved to debate philosophical topics, history and world events.
Travis is survived by his two adorable children, Grant and Grace; his loving parents, Raymond and Deanie Gunder; his sister, Jodi Gunder (Russell) Minx; girlfriend, Keisha Kelly, two nephews, Joey and Tanner, grandmother, Peggy Gunder; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Victory Church at 1401 Griffin Road, Lakeland, on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at 2:30 PM. It was Travis' wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Polk Auto Angels (930 Griffin Road, Lakeland, Florida, 33805). Auto Angels provides used automobiles to families in need in Polk County. Travis was very involved and extremely passionate with this charity.
